Shop by business size

The right tool depends on where your business is today, and where you want to take it.

Solo

Freelancers, consultants, side businesses

Keep it simple and cheap: invoicing, a calendar, e-signatures and one place for client files.

Main Street

2–20 employees, local customers

Add payroll, a CRM, point of sale and marketing, and keep them talking to each other.

Growth

20–200 employees, several teams

Projects, reporting and team communication matter now. Consider a suite before the tool count explodes.

Global

Customers and staff across borders

Security, secure documents and connected communication across time zones and currencies.

How to choose business software in five steps

Most bad software decisions start with a demo instead of a list. Do it the other way around.

  1. Write down the job, not the tool. "Send invoices and get paid faster" beats "we need accounting software".
  2. Count what you already pay for. List every subscription, its monthly cost and who uses it. Overlap is common.
  3. Decide how big you plan to get. Pick software that fits the business you'll be in two years, not just today.
  4. Check how it connects. Ask how data moves between this tool and the others you keep, and how you get it out if you leave.
  5. Run a real trial. Use it for one actual week of work with your team, then decide.

All-in-one suite or separate apps?

The biggest decision most growing companies face. Neither answer is always right.

CostOne bill, often lower in totalMany bills that add up quietly

How we review

Every review follows the same four steps.

Use it like an owner

We look at the product the way a busy business owner would: setup, daily use and support.

Check the real cost

Upfront price, monthly fees, add-ons and what it replaces, in plain dollars wherever possible.

List what to consider

Every review includes the questions to ask before buying, including US tax, compliance and data moves.

Ownership & disclosures

Wordle is owned by DOT Synergy Group. Some of the products we review come from companies connected to our owner, such as 3rdCloud.

  • When a review covers a connected company's product, a disclosure appears at the top of that review.
  • We don't publish invented testimonials or star ratings.
  • Overview pages are marked "full review in progress" and carry no rating; listing a product isn't a recommendation.
  • Prices and terms come from each vendor and can change; always confirm before you buy.
